St Andrews is a university where students are expected to learn independently and take responsibility for their coursework (i.e. there’s no busy work and professors don’t remind students about deadlines)
The town and university are beautiful
There’s a lot of international students so you don’t stick out as a study abroad student
Expect the classes (especially if taking honours courses) to be a lot more challenging than Elon
Finding academic help when you need it can be challenging
It’s really nice to only spend 4 hours a week in class
While the location isn’t in a major city, there’s lots to see and do in Scotland and it is possible to take trips out of the UK
Residence halls (aka dorms) are a lot cheaper than apartments and the locations tend to be much closer to campus
Definitely get a scone at Gorgeous, visit the toastie bar (the St Andrews version of Late Night), and check out Topping & Co for a cozy atmosphere and some new books
